Let's Talk About Teeth.

                                           LET'S TALK ABOUT TEETH

Let's talk about teeth. Normal structure of teeth. Believe me, you are going to relate to this topic as much as I can.  Teeth are just like dads, hard from the outside but soft from the inside. Enamel the outermost part of crown of teeth is the hardest structure present in our whole human body. But unlike bone, it cannot be formed once lost. Cause You know the enamel-forming cells ameloblast are as lazy as our siblings, once they have formed the enamel they are not willing to do the same thing again. Then underneath it comes the dentin. Like our mom dentin is sensitive and always working means always forming repairing and protecting the inner structure. The innermost part is the pulp. The most sensitive vital organ or one can say the heart of the teeth. It has all the necessary blood and nerve supply that keeps the teeth alive. So this is the basic structure of a teeth.

So , as we all know our teeths are not a part of bone like snake( acrodont) they are embedded, i.e; they can be removed out of their socket(thecodont). That means there must be some structures present that attaches our teeth to the jaw. There are few more structures that keeps our tooth in their original place after getting a hard friendly punch from our childhood friend. Cementum is the outermost part of the root of teeth. It is one of the structure that helps our teeth in binding with the jaw bone. With the help of PDL periodontal ligaments. Periodontal ligaments are thread like structure with one end attached to  cementum and other to jaw bone or alveolar bone. That's it the basic knowledge of the structure of teeth one must have to understand all the defect, deformities, causes and the need of treatment.

I have started blogging to spread awareness about dental disease, treatment and oral hygiene, as a B.D.S student.
