How are caries formed?

Image
In this world, there is not a single thing which is governed only by one factor. There will always be  a number of factors that govern a single happening. Same goes for caries or cavity. As I have previously discussed about the structure of teeth, and when RCT is important, and also about the optimal time for scaling or regular teeth cleaning.  Today I am going to discuss about how and why are caries formed. For that we need to understand the external structure of teeth along with its surrounding.  Here, I have inserted a occlusal surface of a teeth. Occlusal surface is the top view of posterior teeth. In these you can see some parts with protrusion while some parts with depression. The protuded part is known as cusp, I think most of you are aware of this part. But the depressed part is one of the main cause of all the bizzare occuring in our mouth. This part is known as groove. The groove are the location where the chewed food particles stucks. There are some bacterial w...

Root Canal Treatment.  As I have discussed the normal tooth structure of teeth, the  most sensitive or one can say vital organ of a teeth is pulp. The innermost part of the teeth. When any bacterial attack a tooth, obviously it will attack the outermost part of the teeth, i.e.; enamel, and as we know enamel is non- vascular. Thus we can never feel any pain while the carrie or bacterial fermentation are present only on the enamel. This stage of carrie is only visible. One can detect this carrie in thier regular dental check. This is the best time to treat that carrie. But when does a person visit a dentist, only if they fell pain. That means the carries have already reached dentin. Dentin is a little bit sensitive, it can cause a little bit of pain. A carrie detected at this stage is not so bad. It can be easily treated at this stage, if the bacterial is still on the upper surface of the dentin thickness. In this basic structure of teeth, we can see enamel, the outermost p...

Any medical school is high-cost , time consuming and needs a lot of effort. You might not see a medical student or dental student enjoying as much as students of other stream. I might not say that they never enjoy, or that each and every student is as dedicated as the one who really are. Comparing medical and dental stream, as I am not much aware about medical student , I must only mention the dental stream. But I must mention that Dental syllabus include both the dental as well as the medical subjects. Medical subjects are must for dental students. We not only read about anatomy of human but also anatomy of each any every single teeth from very 20 primary to 32 permanent. And yes every single teeth have different anatomy. You can't ever interchange the upper front two teeth. MBBS includes a lot of knowledge, you might choose in between surgery or medicine. If you are not  so good with hands, you might ignore every surgery. But as a dental student you need to know how to remove car...

Why to visit Dentist???

Image
Why to visit dentist??? Dentist. Firstly we need to understand who is a dentist and what their role are? Dentists are not only doctors but also artists. They are well educated about our teeth anatomy i.e.; structure as well as well trained to create that structure with different materials like amalgam( not used nowadays) and different composites, even they do color matching of teeth according to different patients. Thus believing in them and their ability is necessary before visiting them.  Now the question is why should we visit them? Teeth are the structure that we believe are not as necessary as other organs cause unlike other organs they are gonna fall someday. Yes, they will fall out someday, but believe me even after that you would need dentures to ...

Let's Talk About Teeth.

LET'S TALK ABOUT TEETH Let's talk about teeth. Normal structure of teeth. Believe me, you are going to relate to this topic as much as I can.  Teeth are just like dads, hard from the outside but soft from the inside. Enamel the outermost part of crown of teeth is the hardest structure present in our whole human body. But unlike bone, it cannot be formed once lost. Cause You know the enamel-forming cells ameloblast are as lazy as our siblings, once they have formed the enamel they are not willing to do the same thing again. Then underneath it comes the dentin. Like our mom dentin is sensitive and always working means always forming repairing and protecting the inner structure. The innermost part is the pulp. The most sensitive vital organ or one can say the heart of the teeth. It has all the necessary blood and nerve supply that ke...
